Do you ever feel like a deer in headlights? Whether it’s mindlessly scrolling on your phone, sitting just a little too long in your parked car or doing everything except for that one thing that you SHOULD be doing? At some point, you lost your way. Here are three simple steps to get you on the path to success.

Envision your long term goal or purpose
Do not over complicate this. Keep it super simple. Here are some examples: "I want to lose weight.", "I want to own my own business", "I want to be happy." The more generous you are with yourself in envisioning your long term goal or purpose, the easier it will be to better define your purpose while traveling on the path towards success. Spending time on the details of your long term goal or purpose prevents you from moving forward.
Each day set a small achievable goal in the direction of achieving the long term goal.
Make a promise to yourself; "Today I will walk outside for twenty minutes". No matter what, you are going to walk outside for twenty minutes. It's raining? Put on a jacket, grab an umbrella. You were called in for an emergency school meeting? Walk immediately after the meeting. There was a catastrophe at work? Walk before or after or perhaps walk to work - figure it out. The key here is that the daily goal is an ACHIEVABLE one, which makes it extremely difficult to put off.
Appoint an accountability partner
This step, the third step, is the most important. I often reference coaches and teams. If you have a friend who is willing to be your accountablity partner, take full advantage of their kindness! Ask that friend to hold you to your daily commitment. It is even more a win if they share a similar long term goal. If you are both looking to start your own business, perhaps one of your small achievable daily goals can be to meet at the library and hold eachother accountable to spending thirty minutes on research. You and your friend are now a team working together to help one another win.
